Welcome to my first post tracking my racing selections through the Flat season of 2026.
We start with the Spring Mile and Lincoln, two of the trickiest races of the season, 22 runners and having to take fitness on faith.
Starting with the Spring Mile 14:25 at Doncaster my two against the field are :
Rainbow Nebula 1 point each way at 14/1 with Bet365 paying 6 places
On The River 1 point each way at 16/1 with Bet365 paying 6 places.
Rainbow Nebula is unexposed and comes into this having won his last race of 2025. Up 4lb for that, much rests on how wound up he is for this . There are not many front runners in this field, a notable exception being Milteye drawn 2 stalls away and hopefully he will give him a nice tow into the race.
On The River goes well fresh having a win and a 2nd on debut in 2 of the last 3 seasons and gets in here off 79 having won twice recently off 80.
In the Lincoln at 15:32 I am concerned about Eternal Force for William Haggas who excels in these big handicaps with unexposed types but 4/1 is too short for me in a race like this so I have gone for :
Greek Order 1 point each way at 18/1 with Bet365
Galeron 1 point each way at 14/1 with Bet365
Greek Order lost his way towards the end of last season after 3 excellent runs when he was placed in the Hunt Cup and Golden Mile and was 4th in the Coral Challenge. He starts this season on a mark 1lb lower than for that run in the Hunt Cup and hopefully the application of a visor for the first time will eke out enough improvement to take a hand.
He is drawn in stall 1, historically low numbers have an edge in this and the two main pace angles , Botanical and Urban Lion are drawn 2 and 3 so hopefully will set the race up nicely.
Galeron was 5th in this race last year on seasonal debut off 8lb higher so he is well handicapped and can go well fresh. He ended last year with a good second to Desperate Dan and is also drawn nicely to take advantage of the pace horses.
