Selections 03/10/2026
Montezuma ran ok for us the other day , travelling well but having to drift out to the centre of the track for a run, meanwhile those drawn on the rail were away and gone.
So, on to tomorrow and I have looked at the racing at Ascot, Newmarket and Redcar and have some decent priced selections.
Firstly at Ascot today you absolutely had to be drawn high, in the one race over 6f 18 beat 17 and 15.
I looked at the 7f race and I just could not come up with a strong enough case for anything drawn high so I moved on to the 16:10, a 5f race with a slightly smaller field of 14 but still I have gone for 2 that are drawn high/ middle to high in Rhythm N Hooves and Rosario, both at each way prices.
The race is billed as a 0-105 class 2 but the top weight is rated 96 so its really a 0-95 class 3.
Firstly Rythm N Hooves is still on a very good mark , he runs off 82 having won off 87 last year. His penultimate race was a win for us and his last race can be disregarded as he raced pretty much alone away from the field. He has 4 horses drawn outside him, 2 that tend to get well back in races and 2 front runners so I am hoping he can edge across and be towed along by the front runners and stay on strongest.
The 10/1 available with Paddy seems to be a good price.
Rosario was one I tipped last time and he stumbled at the start and never really recovered, However prior to that he beat Lipsink at Sandown and he won this week to frank the form.
He runs today off 88 which is a nice mark considering he was 2nd in this race last year off 93 and won at Goodwood last May off 94. As long as he starts OK he can hopefully sit off the pace which could be pretty strong and pounce late from the stall next to Rhythm N Hooves. At 18/1 I think he is overpriced.
In the straight mile series final at Redcar I like a course specialist and an outsider.
Firstly, just to note again that this is a class 2 but in actuality is a 0-90 which is a class 3 not a 0-105 and the draw is heavily biased towards lower numbers .
Classic Encounter has a c&d record of 112 and for the 2nd he was beaten by a short head. That came off today's mark of 88 and I think he will go very close at 9/2 from stall 7 which is as wide as you want to be at Redcar.
The outsider I like is Harswell Ruby, he comes top on my figures, is in good form in the main, is drawn 3 and well handicapped. He won at the start of the year off today's mark of 69 and today Rhys Elliott claims 5lb off that so in effect he rubs off 64.
Welbury has been tipped in a few places and is 3rd favourite, a quarter the price of our selection yet in July Welbury beat him less than a length getting 5 lbs and is no less than 28lbs worse off today giving him 18lbs plus the 5lb claim. At 20/1 I will take a chance that he at least runs into a place.
