Selections 03/05/2026

Well yesterday was another day of profit with Mirsky winning the Thirsk Hunt Cup very nicely. He travelled strongly and despite a late challenge from the favourite that briefly had me concerned he won pretty comfortably.

More frustration too though as Erzindjan who I had looked hard at in the 14:20 but ultimately decided the race was too hot, won at 17/2 having touched 10/1.

In the other races, Love Beach finished 3rd in a very slowly run race that didn't suit (although the winner looked very good).

Equity Law ran well beaten less than a length but Squealer's run can be disregarded. He pulled hard early and appeared to clip heels and stumble at about half way and was never in it after that.

Today there is one selection only and its a little speculative.

The 14:55 at Newmarket is a pretty open race with question marks against all the runners. However at the prices an each way bet on Kihavah looks worth a chance. 12/1 looks good value for a horse that is on its last winning mark and 4lb below the mark from which he was a very unlucky 5th in this race last year. Repeatedly short of room in the penultimate furlong it was too late when he got clear. He has been running in group races in Dubai in the winter and is likely to be fit enough to give us a run for our money today.
