Selections 02/05/2026

If you saw my post yesterday, there was a little more frustration after Lexington Blitz bolted up at 10/3 after being 4/1 earlier. I liked his chances and had been waiting for him to run plus he was 2nd on my figures, but was up against two other's high on my figures who had every chance too in Rhythm n Hooves (top), and Tropical Storm (4th) so I did not bet it. (Tropical Storm came 3rd and Rhythm n Hooves was 4th ).

On to today, it's Guineas day so some good racing at Newmarket and I looked at the 13:45 with Double Rush coming top of my figures and standing out clearly but everyone saw the same thing and he is 8/11!

In the 14:20 I looked long and hard at Erzindjan who won the race in his group easily in a race over C&D last year and Thunder Wonder who is well treated and at 25/1 looked like me could outrun his odds but its a very hot race so instead I moved on to the 16:00 at Goodwood.

In this I really like the look of Love Beach who is well clear on my figures bolted up last time at Nottingham and looks able to handle the rise.

At Thirsk it is Hunt Cup day and it is as competitive as always so I have had two against the field.

Flight Plan won the race last year off 102 and is now off 94 after some indifferent runs but he showed a little more last time and is in a first time tongue tie, Any revival would see him go close and he has been backed in from 7s to 5s.

I am splitting stakes though in case the tongue tie doesn't do the trick and I am going with Mirsky who won twice last year including over c&d and is only 3lb higher than for the last win. He ran well enough on reappearance to suggest he can win off this mark and is nicely drawn in 8.

Finally in the 16:25 I again have 2 against the field , the top 2 on my figures.

Equity Law ran a cracker in the race last week where we had Dream Composer win, travelling strongly before being pipped by 2 well treated rivals. He was dropped a lb for that and is now on his last winning mark .

Squealer was an eyecatcher in a competitive race at Beverley last time and gets in here off 84, 4lb lower than last years win at York.
